Post-doc
Piotr is an analytical chemist with theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as strong IT and technical skills. After working for many years with LC and MS instruments, in both academic (University of Warsaw, Polish Academy of Sciences, University of Geneva) and industrial settings (Shim-Pol, Bioanalytic), he has gained confidence in running, troubleshooting and performing maintenance on analytical systems. During his Ph.D. studies in Prof. Aleksandra Misicka’ group, he was working with MALDI mass spectrometry imaging, analyzing chemical compounds distribution directly at a thin slice of tissue. As a postdoctoral fellow and later a Maître-assistant in Prof. Gérard Hopfgartner’s group, he was working on projects related to 3D printing, metabolomics, peptidomics and lipidomics. At the Medical University of Lublin he studied interactions between phenolic acids and gluten network using high-resolution mass spectrometry. Currently, Piotr works at Warsaw University.
Assistant Professor
Ewa obtained an M.Sc. degree (2013) in basic and applied chemistry from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. In 2022 she received her Ph.D. degree at the Medical University of Bialystok where she focused on the application of metabolomics analysis in the prenatal studies of fetal Down syndrome. The details of the metabolomics analysis she explored during a two-month internship at The Centre of Metabolomics and Bioanalysis (CEMBIO) at San Pablo CEU in Madrid, Spain. Additionally, she improved her biostatistical skills during a three-week stay at the János Szentágothai Research Centre at the University of Pecs, Hungary. The main area of her interest is an exploration of molecular effects connected with statin-based therapy using of LC-MS metabolomics platform.
Ph.D. student
Anna is an analytical chemist. In 2010 she obtained her MSc degree in Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Warsaw. Then she worked both in academia and industry sectors where she gained extensive experience in the analytical method development for biological and clinical samples analysis using various LC MS systems and approaches. In 2017 she started the research for her Ph.D. in the field of food proteomics in the prof. Fornal’s group. In 2023, she defended her Ph.D. dissertation titled “Application of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to the authentication of fish species and fish containing products”. Currently, she pursues her career at Novartis Biomedical Research in Switzerland, where she is mainly focused on the drug metabolism studies, including metabolite profiling and identification as well as reactive metabolite assessment and application of proteomics methods in drug discovery and development research.
Technician
Paulina is a graduate of biotechnology at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. To expand her knowledge further, in 2024 she completed postgraduate studies in molecular diagnostics. Currently, her interests focus on mass spectrometry and application of LC/MS.
Post-doc
Katarzyna obtained her PhD in biological sciences in 2018 at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin. She is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Genetics and Microbiology, UMCS. Currently, she is employed as a post-doc at the Department of Bioanalitics at the Medical University in Lublin. She works on a project concerning mechanism of interactions between gluten proteins (gliadins and glutenins) and selected phenolic acids. Her research interests focus on the application of mass spectrometry technique in biological research. Currently, Katarzyna works at Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin.
